Last Updated on by ICT Byte

The Government of Nepal is set to implement a new policy allowing students above the undergraduate level to work up to 20 hours per week.

Announcing the government’s policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year on Friday, President Ramchandra Paudel stated that the initiative aims to support the “earn while you learn” model. He mentioned that a minimum wage will be ensured for up to 20 hours of work per week for eligible students.

“In order to promote the ‘earn while you learn’ policy, students will be allowed to work for a maximum of 20 hours per week with a guaranteed minimum wage,” President Paudel said.

Additionally, the policy outlines the government’s plan to engage interns in public services across all levels — from local to federal — as part of its effort to utilize young human resources in governance.
