How To Choose The Best Gaming Laptop?

Last Updated on by Sumi

With the advancement in gaming with its realistic graphics and more advanced features, the specifications of hardware are also increasing. Some games have become so high end that normal laptops cannot run them smoothly or entirely at all. As a result, people wanted gaming laptops built specifically with a focus on gaming. A hardcore gamer would always love to have gaming laptops over other laptops. So, with that in mind, this is an article talking about how to choose the best gaming laptop.

Buying the best laptop is important, but buying the best combination of specifications on your budget is also very important. If you have one hardware of the best specification and another of very low specification, then that too is not good. So, in this article, we will discuss what things to consider while buying a gaming laptop.

Things to consider while buying a gaming laptop

GPU

GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) is one of the most important factors while buying gaming laptops. If you have a higher specification GPU, then you can play games in higher graphics settings, which will enhance your gaming experience. Many great games require higher GPU, so a high-performance GPU is very important while buying a gaming laptop. There are some great GPU manufacturers like AMD and Nvidia. You can choose a GPU of your requirement from these manufactures because they are the best in the GPU industry.

CPU

The CPU is also an important factor to consider while buying a gaming laptop. Although GPU does most of the heavy graphics related work, you also need a powerful CPU to other related processing tasks. This way, you can have a good experience while gaming. If the processing is slow, then it may affect gaming performance even if you have a better GPU.

Currently, Intel is the best in terms of processors, so getting one from Intel is the best choice. Processor above i5 and 8th generation are considered good for gaming laptops. For best performance, you can get the latest generation i7 processor. But, keep in mind that the processor alone does not give great performance and other hardware should be balanced as well.

RAM

The amount of RAM determines how much processes it can load and run smoothly. The higher the RAM, the more it will be able to load, and as a result, provides better performance. The minimum RAM for a gaming laptop is 8 GB. But, for better gaming performance, 16 GB of RAM is recommended and it will be sufficient for smooth gaming.

Storage

Obviously, with a gaming laptop, you will be playing multiple games and not just one. Also, good games are of high sizes and require high storage in your laptop. So, getting a hard drive with higher storage is also important. It is better to use an SSD instead of HDD because it is much faster than HDD. This results in faster loading of games and faster installation as well. The Read/write performance becomes faster as well. SSD of 512 GB and above will be a good choice.

Display

The display is the area where you will be most focused on and where you will be experiencing the games. So, a good display is very much necessary. The specification of your display determines how you experience the game. Ideally, it is better to have a high resolution display with 144 Hz refresh rate. You need a display with a resolution of at least 1920 x 1080 to have good gaming experience. Also, gaming laptop screen sizes ranges from 13 inches to 18 inches. But, I’d recommend either a 15 inch or 17 inch display for an immersive gaming experience. Add to that, a display with 144 Hz refresh rate, and you will be able to have a seamless and smooth gaming experience.

Additional things to consider while choosing the best gaming laptop

While the above-mentioned things are most important while buying gaming laptops, there are some additional things that can affect your gaming experience. The battery is one such factor. Having a good battery life is important when you are playing unplugged or somewhere out.

Another factor to consider is the cooling system of the laptop. Since gaming is a heavy task, the processors are going to heat up a lot. A good cooling system is required to keep the temperature in check and provide smooth performance. Nowadays, gaming laptops come with 2 to 4 cooling fans as well as internal cooling systems.

Also, the keyboard is another factor. You need to use the keyboard a lot while gaming. Also, while in the heat of gaming, you normally press hard on the keys. So, the keyboard must be well built. In addition, a keyboard with a key travel of 1.5 – 2 mm will be ideal for providing a good gaming experience.

Keeping the above things in mind, you can now buy the ideal gaming laptop for you depending upon the budget available.
