Mastering the subtle art of pitching with the Hult Prize

The Hult Prize at IOE, Pulchowk Campus, conducted their fifth talk show session on “The subtle art of pitching” at Advanced College of Engineering and Management on January 27 at 12:30 pm. The program commenced with a short welcoming speech. The host then welcomed the guests of the talk show, Mr. Raj Bikram Maharjan and Ms. Nikita Jalan.

Raj Bikram Maharjan, the CEO and co-founder of Galli Maps was the first speaker of the talk show V. He began with a brief background on how he started Galli Maps and continued with introducing his app. Inspirations for start-ups are just around us. What we should be focusing on is customer satisfaction. He highlighted how competitions should be kept in mind. Referring to his own product Galli Maps, Maharjan shared how google maps was lacking in accuracy and how his product could fill in the gap. ‘Knowing your product is the most important thing when it comes to pitching’ Maharjan said. He emphasized on better presentation and its impactful effect on the audiences. He also conveyed how knowing the interests of the judges and audiences might give one the upper hand.


Continuing the Talk show, Nikita Jalan, the CEO and co-founder of Pet Mama Nepal took the stage. She interestingly showcased the art of pitching. She believes pitching is like the first date, so one should make it impressive and interesting. She accentuated how the first minute of a pitch is the most crucial. With that said, Nikita gave the audience some tips and insights on how to keep the presentation engaging. Mentioning the role of visual references in the pitch, she also highlighted that a perfect delivery requires strong preparation.


The event formally concluded with handing the guests a token of love. Queries from the audience were addressed by the guest speakers. This session also had a fun quiz session covering facts related to the Hult Prize. To make it more interesting, the session unveiled the teams for the semi-finals at the end. The session was successful, not only due to the active participation of young entrepreneurs but also because of the excellent guest speakers.
