As winter casts its chilly embrace over Nepal, the Hult Prize at Kathmandu University is bringing warmth and compassion through its heartwarming initiative, Stitches of Kindness. This thoughtful cloth donation program, running from December 20 to 26, transforms unused clothing into a source of comfort for those in need.
The program’s essence is captured in its simple yet profound message: “Your unused clothes can bring warmth to someone in need.” To ensure maximum participation, donation boxes have been conveniently placed across Kathmandu University’s premises, including cafes, stores, and both the boys’ and girls’ hostels. These accessible locations make it easy for students and faculty to contribute to this meaningful cause.
The collected donations are handed over to the Sukhawati Foundation, a charitable thrift store in Nepal. There, the clothes are sold at affordable prices ranging from just Rs. 10 to Rs. 300, making them accessible to underprivileged individuals who struggle with the high costs of basic necessities. Proceeds from these sales support various charitable activities, extending the impact of every contribution.
By participating in Stitches of Kindness, donors not only help people stay warm during winter but also contribute to a cycle of generosity that uplifts countless lives. This initiative serves as a powerful reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a significant difference, especially during the harsh winter months when warmth is a precious gift.
Let’s come together to support the Hult Prize team at Kathmandu University in making Stitches of Kindness a success. After all, there’s no better feeling than spreading compassion and making a positive impact on the world.
