Sometimes, while using your Android smartphone, you may not be able to download apps on your smartphone from Google Play Store. There may be various reasons as to why you were unable to download apps on your android smartphone. Sometimes, you might also have downloads pending on the play store. Here, we’ll talk about ways to fix the problem where you cannot download play store apps.

Sometimes you may also have problems like google play store not downloading apps on mobile data, or google play store server error, or apps not updating on android, and many more. So, we have come up with some solutions for why apps are not installing from play store.

How to fix download apps issue on Android smartphones?

There is no fixed reason for you to be unable to download apps on your android smartphone. There may be different reasons for different persons. Here, we’ll list out some common problems and ways to fix it so that you can download apps on your android phone without any issues.

#1. Check you internet connection

Sometimes, the issue might be with your internet connection instead of the smartphone. So make sure that your Wi-Fi is working properly. You may also try to download it from mobile data instead of Wi-fi. Sometimes, it might work this way as well.

#2. Force stop play store, clear cache, and data of play store

  • Go to ‘Settings’.
  • Click on ‘App & Notifications’.
  • Then, click on ‘See all apps’.
  • Scroll and search for ‘Google Play Store’, and click on it.
  • Click on ‘Force stop’.
  • Then, click on ‘Storage’.
  • After that, click on ‘Clear cache’.
  • Then, click on ‘Clear data’.
  • Now, open the Play Store and try to download again.

#3. Restart your smartphone

If you are still facing problems even after clearing cache and data of google play store, then try restarting the device.

  • Press and hold the power button.
  • Click on ‘Power off’ or ‘Restart’ if such options appear.
  • Else, you can just press and hold the power button until the phone turns on again.
  • After that, try downloading the apps from google play store again.

#4. Check your device storage

Sometimes, lack on enough storage space is also the reason that you are unable to download apps on android device. So, make sure you have enough storage space on your device. If nor, delete some unused apps and free up some space. After that, try installing apps from the google play store.

#5. Check your SD Card

If your phone has SD card, then check to make sure that it is placed properly on your device. You may try ejecting the SD card once and then inserting it again. After that, try using the play store to download apps.

#6. Clear cache and data from Download Manager

  • Go to ‘Settings’.
  • Open ‘Apps & Notifications’.
  • Then, click on ‘App info’ or ‘See all apps’ based on which of the two options you see.
  • After that, tap on the three dots on the top right corner, and click on ‘Show System’.
  • Click on ‘Download Manager’.
  • Click on ‘Storage’ or ‘Storage & cache’ based on what option you see.
  • Then, tap on ‘Clear cache’.
  • Click on ‘Clear storage’.
  • After that, click on ‘Clear all data’.
  • Select ‘OK’.
  • After that, open Google Play Store and try downloading the apps again.

  • Go to ‘Settings’.
  • Open ‘Apps & Notifications’.
  • Then, click on ‘App info’ or ‘See all apps’ based on which of the two options you see.
  • Click on ‘Google Play Services’.
  • Click on ‘Storage’ or ‘Storage & cache’ based on what option you see.
  • Then, tap on ‘Clear cache’.
  • Click on ‘Clear storage’.
  • After that, click on ‘Clear all data’.
  • Select ‘OK’.
  • After that, open Google Play Store and try downloading the apps again.

#8. Uninstall Play store updates and then reinstall it again

  • Go to ‘Settings’.
  • Open ‘Apps & Notifications’.
  • Then, click on ‘App info’ or ‘See all apps’ based on which of the two options you see.
  • Click on the ‘Google Play Store’.
  • After that, tap on the three dots on the top right corner, and click on ‘Uninstall Updates’.
  • Now, click on ‘OK’. This will revert the play store app back to the factory version.
  • After that, open the Google play store and install the apps.

#9. Update your Android version if update is available

Google play store may not work properly if you are running android version 2.2 or below. Also, some apps might run only on the latest updated android. Therefore, check to make sure that your android phone is updated to the latest available version of android.

  • Go to ‘Settings’.
  • Click on ‘System’.
  • Then, click on ‘Advanced’.
  • Then, click ‘System Updates’.
  • If any update is available, then update it and try downloading again from the play store.

#10. Remove your google account from play store and add it again

To remove your account

  • Open ‘Settings’.
  • Open ‘Accounts’.
  • Select the account you want to remove and click ‘Remove Account’.
  • Enter your device pattern, or pin, or password if asked to enter.
  • Now, your account is successfully removed.

Now, you have to add your account again.

To add your account

  • Open ‘Settings’.
  • Open ‘Accounts’.
  • Click on ‘Add account’.
  • Select ‘Google’.
  • Follow the instructions on the screen to add your account.
  • After that, open Google Play Store.
  • Click on the Menu which is the three horizontal lines on the top-left.
  • Find the name and email address of the account you’re using.
  • Click on the down arrow and select the account you want to use.
  • Now, try downloading the apps again from the google play store.
