What is International Prepaid Dollar Card?

You might have heard that Nepal has no international payment gateway. There was no chance to pay any stuffs from foreign country due to no availability of international payment gateway.

To silve this problem, Nepal Rastra Bank issued a circular on March 21, 2021 stating issue of prepaid dollar cards to Nepalis.

As per the above notice, Nepali banks are now providing the international prepaid dollar card.

Banks Providing Prepaid Dollar Card in Nepal

Class A banks are issuing dollar cards at the moments. At the time of writing this article, following banks are providing prepaid dollar card in Nepal.

  • Siddhartha Bank
  • Global IME Bank
  • NMB Bank
  • Nepal Investment Bank
  • Prabhu Bank
  • Nabil Bank
  • Mahalaxmi Bikas Bank
  • Kumari Bank
  • Himalayan Bank
  • Siddhartha Bank
  • Machhapuchchre Bank
  • Sunrise Bank.

How long does it take to get international dollar card in Nepal?

If you want a dollar card with your name printed in it, it takes around 10-15 days.

And if you are okay with card without your name printed, just one day is needed.

What is the process to get dollar card in Nepal?

Following are the requirements to get dollar card

  • You must have a PAN card
  • You must have a bank account

To get dollar card, go to the bank where there is your account. Then fill up a form for prepaid dollar card.

Also note that if you don’t have updated your KYC form recently, you need to fill up the KYC form.

Apply through your bank and you will get international prepaid dollar card.

What is the charge to get international prepaid dollar card?

Initial charge and account loading fee varies as per the bank.

The normal charge for initial setup is Rs 500.

And remember, on every load of your account with some balance, you need to pay account loading fee. This fee varies according to branch.

Some banks are charging Rs 500 per load whereas some are charging Rs 250.
