he highly anticipated grand finale of the Shubha Yatra Presents Hult Prize at Kathmandu University took place on January 9, 2025, at the CV Raman Auditorium of Kathmandu University. The event marked the culmination of months of rigorous planning and preparation by both the organizing committee and the participants, drawing attention to the vibrant spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among young minds.
The ceremony commenced with the formal felicitation of esteemed guests, followed by the symbolic lighting of the Panas by the chief guest, Prof. Dr. Bhupendra Bimal Chhetri, who also delivered the opening address, setting a motivational tone for the evening. Renowned guest speaker Riya Prajapti, founder of Prajapati Ceramic, shared valuable insights on entrepreneurship, inspiring the audience with her personal journey. Adding to the cultural atmosphere, students from Kathmandu University performed a lively welcome dance.
Among the distinguished guests were Miss Subi Kaphle, National Coordinator for Hult Prize Foundation Nepal, Miss Garima Shrestha, National Community Leader for Hult Prize Nepal, and Mrs. Sangita Sharma, an influential IT industry educator. The presence of Mr. Bibhu Ratna Tuladhar, Advisor to the Hult Prize at Kathmandu University, further emphasized the significance of the event.
A panel of expert judges, including Mr. Manish Devkota, CEO of Golden Fidelity Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Darshan Khanal, CEO of Shubha Yatra, Mr. Kashyap Shakya, a visionary entrepreneur, and Mrs. Mona Nyachhon, a renowned cybersecurity professional, carefully evaluated the innovative pitches from the five finalist teams.
These teams—Team Nutri Nest, Team Myra, Team Synergy, Team Breathe Box, and Team Filter Fixer—had advanced to the finals after competing in the semifinals at Nepal College of Management on January 4. The teams presented their ideas centered around the theme “Unlimited,” showcasing groundbreaking solutions to address various societal challenges.
In addition to the entrepreneurial presentations, the event featured a captivating performance of “The Pitch”, a drama by Kathmandu University students, which creatively illustrated the entrepreneurial journey.
The results of the competition were eagerly awaited, and after much deliberation, the winners were announced:
- 2nd Runner-Up: Team Myra
- 1st Runner-Up: Team Breathe Box
- Winner: Team Nutri Nest
As the winners, Team Nutri Nest earned a coveted spot in the national finals of the Hult Prize Nepal, where they will compete with top teams from across the country.
Following the announcement, Mrs. Mona Nyachhon offered insightful feedback on the teams’ presentations, praising their innovative approaches and highlighting the high caliber of the pitches. The event wrapped up with closing remarks from Miss Shreeju Manandhar, Campus Director of Hult Prize at Kathmandu University, followed by a group photo with judges, participants, and organizers.
The successful grand finale of the Hult Prize at Kathmandu University 2025 underscored the university’s commitment to nurturing innovation and empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs to drive social change.
