The fifth session of the Hult Prize at IOE’s Entrepreneurship Talk Series brought valuable lessons in business modeling and market testing to eager students at Embark College, Pulchowk on February 2nd.

The event featured two dynamic speakers who shared their real-world experiences with the participants. Vedika Murarka, co-founder of Educase, shared her journey of turning a college project into a social enterprise that creates convertible school bag-desks for underprivileged students. She walked students through her process of developing twelve prototypes before finding the right design, emphasizing that social impact and profitability can go hand in hand.

Marketing consultant Riya Shrestha brought energy to the room with an interactive session, starting with a surprise pen-selling exercise that got participants thinking on their feet. She shared practical insights on brand building and audience connection, drawing from her extensive experience in social media strategy and communication.

“Understanding your audience and their genuine needs is the first step in marketing,” Shrestha emphasized during her presentation. She also delved into the psychology behind successful content creation and brand awareness.

The anticipation built throughout the afternoon as participants knew the top 25 semi-finalist teams would be announced at the session’s end. The event was hosted by Aeva Acharya, Chief Content Writer of the organizing committee, with Campus Director Riyaj Nepal presenting traditional Khadas to welcome the speakers.

Both speakers received handcrafted tokens from CNC Kasthakala Nepal, plants from The Plant Room Nepal, and refreshments from Kantipur Coffee in appreciation of their contributions.

The announcement of the semi-finalists brought the session to an exciting close, with the selected teams now preparing to take their innovative ideas to the next level in the competition. The Hult Prize at IOE continues to foster entrepreneurship that combines business success with positive social impact.
