The Hult Prize at Khwopa College of Engineering Organizing Committee hosted an engaging and practical workshop titled “Business Model Canvas” at Hall 1, Khwopa College of Engineering. The workshop aimed to equip students with the skills to design innovative business solutions addressing global challenges, preparing them for their Hult Prize journey.

A total of 65 students from various semesters and departments of KhCE participated, fostering a diverse environment for creative thinking. The event began with a warm welcome from the emcees, setting an enthusiastic tone for the day. This was followed by a ceremonial Khada distribution to honor the esteemed guests, Mr. Nikhil Shakya and Mr. Niraj Pradhan, Managing Directors of Skill Square.

Mr. Shakya, the chief speaker, delivered an inspiring keynote address, drawing on his extensive experience as a marketing consultant and analyst in industries like banking, energy, academia, and NGOs. He captivated the audience with insights on innovation, strategy, and the role of consumers as the central focus of any entrepreneurial venture. Through real-life examples and success stories, he emphasized how customer-centric approaches drive business success, inspiring students to think strategically and creatively.

The core of the workshop was a hands-on session where participants applied the Business Model Canvas framework, as taught by Mr. Shakya, to develop business models for their ideas. This practical activity encouraged students to explore key business components such as value propositions, customer relationships, revenue streams, channels, resources, and partnerships. This interactive approach provided participants with a clear roadmap for transforming ideas into actionable, sustainable ventures.

A highlight of the session was a thought-provoking problem, “Can You Fight Back?” addressing safety concerns in Nepali society, such as mugging and sexual assault during nighttime walks. Participants proposed innovative solutions, including screecher buzzers, tactical flashlights, keychains, and drones, to enhance personal safety. The brainstorming session showcased the students’ ingenuity and creativity in addressing real-world challenges.

The workshop exemplified the exceptional creativity and strategic thinking of Khwopa College of Engineering students as they crafted innovative business models aligned with the Hult Prize theme, “Unlimited.” Guided by Mr. Shakya, participants demonstrated boldness and originality, presenting groundbreaking concepts that impressed the guest speaker and highlighted their potential to tackle global issues.

The event concluded with a heartfelt closing statement from the Deputy Campus Director, Ayusha Shrestha, who applauded the organizing team, guest speaker, and participants for their efforts.

This workshop not only empowered students to refine their entrepreneurial skills but also reaffirmed Khwopa College of Engineering’s commitment to nurturing innovative talent. Such events pave the way for meaningful contributions to both academic and professional spheres.
