The Bachelor of Business Information System (BBIS) program offered by Kathmandu University is a comprehensive 4-year undergraduate program designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills in business management, information technology, and information systems. The BBIS program covers various essential areas of study, including Database Management and Security, Network and Communications, Human-Computer Interaction, Principles of e-business, and Management Information Systems. The curriculum is structured to provide a strong foundation in both business management and information systems, ensuring that graduates possess a well-rounded skill set to meet the demands of the industry.

This 120-credit-hour program is divided into eight semesters. It consists of 45 credits for foundation courses, 48 credits for core management courses, 30 credits for information system specialization courses, and 6 credits for elective courses. In the final semester, students are required to complete a minimum 6-week internship in a business, industrial, governmental, or non-governmental organization. This practical experience provides students with valuable real-world exposure and enables them to apply their knowledge and skills in a professional setting.

Objective of BBIS in Nepal

Eligibility for BBIS Admission in Nepal

To be eligible for admission to the BBIS program, students must have completed their 10+2 (Higher Secondary Education Board) or Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) with a minimum aggregate of 50%. GCE ‘A’ level students must have a minimum GPA of ‘C’ or above. Additionally, applicants must qualify in the Kathmandu University Undergraduates Management Admission Test (KUUMAT), which is a SAT-based exam conducted by Kathmandu University.

The BBIS program also allows for credit transfers for students who have studied a similar program in another campus or university. Prior approval from the Dean’s Office of Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM) is required, and the maximum credit transfer limit is 40 percent of the total credits required for the BBIS program.
