Google launched a Pinterest competitor called Keen

Last Updated on by Sumi

Do you think Pinterest view google as its primary competitor? I was thinking about this question being curious, suddenly I got to know Google silently launches Pinterest like application called Keen.

Keen is an experimental product that is available both on the web as well as on Android made by Google’s experimental product workshop Area 120.

It’s similar to Pinterest where users can share their passions with people. They can curate lists of special little boards based on their interests.

What’s the major difference between Pinterest and Keen?

The only difference is Machine Learning Expertise. The app interface of the Keen shows content related to your interests. The interface is slick and smooth. The developers have tried to make a difference by leveraging manual lists and content collection. If you are not an expert on a certain topic you can start curating keen and save a few links about that topic.

While Pinterest is also giving their best efforts to improve Machine Learning capabilities by finding patterns in data outstrips.

In the official blog post announcement, Co-Founder CJ Adams said,

“On Keen, you say what you want to spend more time on, and then curate content from the web and people you trust to help make that happen. You make a ‘keen,’ which can be about any topic, whether it’s baking delicious bread at home, getting into birding, or researching typography. Keen lets you curate the content you love, share your collection with others, and find new content based on what you have saved.”

It seems google’s main focus is to get more data about its users. I am more than excited about what it does to implement machine learning curates like keen to get more competitive.
