Empowering Sindhuli through Cybersecurity Awareness at The Renaissance Library

The Renaissance Library in Bhiman, Sindhuli, teamed up with Kamalamai Municipality-09 to host a cybersecurity awareness program called “Digital Resilience: Building Safe and Smart Online Presence.” The event, held at Sahid Rishiraj Devkota ‘Ajad’ Smriti Bhawan in Bhiman, aimed to educate and raise awareness about online safety in the local community.

The Renaissance Library, focused on improving reading habits and intellectual capabilities, has been actively organizing programs for community enlightenment. The cybersecurity awareness initiative, led by library member Shanti Prasad Chaulagai, was guided by library President Shivaji Chaulagain. Gobinda Gautam, a youth entrepreneur and social worker, hosted the program, with support from Anish Thapa and social worker Bibek Shrestha.

The chief guest was Manju Devkota, Upamayor of Kamalamai Municipality, Sindhuli, along with other distinguished guests, including a sub-inspector from Bhiman area police, the Ward head of Kamalamai Municipality-09, and youth motivator Binod Pradhan.

The audience included students from classes 10 to 12 from various local schools, teachers, leaders, social workers, entrepreneurs, and community members. The event drew over 150 students and featured a keynote address by Chiranjibi Adhikari, a cybersecurity expert and General Secretary of the CAN Federation. Adhikari discussed cybercrime cases in Nepal and ways to minimize such incidents.

The program, themed “Let’s Build Secure Sindhuli,” aimed to educate participants on recognizing and avoiding cyber threats, as well as complying with legal requirements for data protection and privacy. Chief guest Manju Devkota praised the program’s potential to benefit young individuals in preventing cybercrime and commended The Renaissance Library for organizing this milestone program in Sindhuli district. The library’s commitment to community empowerment and awareness was highlighted, with plans to extend similar activities throughout the district. This cybersecurity awareness program is a significant step toward building a digitally resilient and secure Sindhuli, showcasing the library’s dedication to the holistic development of its community.
