His election took place during WITSA’s General Assembly in Yerevan, Armenia, on Friday.

With a long-standing career in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, Poddar has been serving as the president of the CAN Federation since January 2023. Upon his election, he expressed his commitment to fostering global collaboration in technology. “This role at WITSA provides me the opportunity to work with over 80 ICT organizations globally, contributing to the advancement of technology. I am dedicated to positioning Nepal as a significant player on the global tech stage,” said Poddar. He also highlighted that this achievement reflects the growing international recognition of CAN Federation’s role in the ICT sector.

WITSA, a global body that represents ICT organizations from 80 countries, plays a crucial role in more than 90% of the global ICT industry’s economic activities. It promotes research, development, and the application of innovative technologies worldwide.

The 20-member executive committee of WITSA includes representatives from Asia, Brazil, Nepal, South Africa, Bangladesh, Japan, and other countries. Notably, Hemanta Chaurasia, a former president of the CAN Federation, had previously served two successful terms as Treasurer of WITSA.

This election marks a significant milestone for Nepal’s ICT sector, reinforcing its growing influence in global technology development.
