Under the leadership of Students For Liberty Local Co-ordinator Saroj Baniya, on the occasion of the Koshi Mini Yantra 2.0 event held at Mahendra Morang Adarsh Multiple Campus, Biratnagar on magh 25th (January 29th), a pannel discussion with 4 panelists on the topic of personal freedom and privacy in the digital age was completed.
Among the 4 panellists, President of Robotics Association of Nepal (RAN) East. Binilraj Adhikari, Department of Physics and Director of BIT of Mahendra Morang Adarsh Multiple Campus, Prof. Dr. Sashit Kumar Yadav, SWISS Contact’s consultant and former Local Co-ordinator of Student For Liberty Swaragya raj Pandey, and Suraj Dahal, Regional Branch Manager of Worldlink Communications were there.The panel discussion discussed the privacy and ownership of data in the current era, methods of data privacy protection and basic rights of stakeholders and privacy protection.
More than 600 students, educationists, experts and intellectuals actively participated in the Koshi Mini Yantra 2.0 event with the direct participation of more than 5000 people for this panel discussion. The main conclusion of the discussion was that in today’s time every person is equally responsible for protecting their personal information and privacy and making society and government aware of their responsibility. A comprehensive discussion was held among the multi-faceted panelists on how in today’s era, problems such as data theft and privacy violation are taking a larger form and affecting people at which level.
The panelists of the panel discussion presented a strong statement to all those present, emphasizing on how to protect data and protect their privacy according to their respective expertise. According to Er. Binilraj Adhikari, in today’s time, data is the most valuable asset of people and especially with the increasing use of AI, the importance of data security is increasing. Likewise, Sashit Kumar Yadav said that it is time for every person to be aware of IT and technology and they should take initiative to protect their information. Swaragya raj Pandey highlighted how SFL should play a leading role for this discussion and gave a special orientation to the Local Coordinator and volunteers of SFL.In addition, Suraj Dahal also presented his important statement saying how ISPs play a role in internet service usage and data security and how every user should be aware of this.
