Facebook testing a new feature that allows users to view Instagram stories from Facebook

Facebook has recently started testing a new feature that allows users to view Instagram stories from Facebook itself. Some users may have already noticed that they can now view Instagram storied directly from their Facebook app. Not everyone will be able to see this feature currently, as it is in its testing phase.

Previously, Facebook had allowed or provided the option to the users to cross-post their Instagram stories to Facebook. However, now they have started testing this feature where you can view Instagram stories from Facebook itself without the user cross-posting it.

You can differentiate between the stories from Facebook and Instagram from the color that encircles the profile photo. The Facebook stories will be encircled with a red color circle while the Instagram stories will be encircled with a pink/orange hues circle that indicates the color of the Instagram app.

The great thing about this feature is that even though others can view your Instagram stories from Facebook, not all of your Facebook friends can view your Instagram story. Only your Instagram followers that have linked their Instagram with Facebook can view the story from their Facebook. Therefore, you need not worry about your other Facebook friends seeing your Instagram story with this feature.

You will also get to see all the views and replies on Instagram. Moreover, only the Facebook users that have turned on the settings to view Instagram stories from Facebook can see the Instagram stories. So, some users who follow you on Instagram may not be able to view Instagram stories from Facebook if they have this feature turned off.

A Facebook spokesperson has confirmed that this is a “limited-test” and they will be listening to feedback from the users so as to make this feature more polished. The spokesperson also confirmed that this feature “respects all existing privacy settings” and Instagram users have the option to keep their stories off of Facebook altogether if they wish to do so.

Facebook has recently introduced new features so that they can make all social apps by Facebook come close together. The apps by Facebook include Instagram and Whatsapp. Facebook also recently began to merge Instagram chat and Facebook Messenger so that now you can view Instagram messages from Facebook Messenger. They are also soon planning to unify Whatsapp in this feature.
